Hi Marcus, Hope you can help. I am having a problem with a student who has a student index of 2301232. They have been added to the Central Student List with no problems, but staff accounts are getting an error when trying to add the students are saying that there are too many digits for the index to be allowed? We have a whole year group with the same amount of digits, and also use other software with the same student ID number, so changing them would prove a big issue. Can you help? |

Thank you for your post Mark. That number shouldn't be causing problems. Are you able to give any further details please to help me track this down? One of your screenshots to show where this is would be great if possible. Thanks in advance. Yours, Marcus |

Hi Mark,
I've now had a chance to look into this with a bit more detail...
I think I understand the problem. Once student data is imported, you are no longer able to change other details if the ID is bigger than 999999. I recognise this as a Bug which I shall fix. It is an annoying bug, as it is an over-restrictive check which should be much higher (4294967295).
As a temporary work-around, this restriction doesn't happen on an iPhone/iPad/iPod. So if you synchronise data to such a device, make any necessary changes, then synchronise again, this should work with large IDs.
I intend to do a release before September and this fix will be in that release. I may do an interim minor release with this fix even. I'll let you know.
Thanks for your patience and for bringing this to my attention.
Yours,
Marcus |

Mark,
You may have seen. I have released a fix for this (version 5.9.1). I trust this will resolve this problem as well as a couple of things.
By way of a gesture of thanks for your communication and patience on all sorts of issues and ideas this year I have extended your license by a couple of months.
Yours,
Marcus |
