Forum thread: Cant sync iphone

hi,

I'm trying to sync with an iPhone. I've tried 3 different ones and still can't get it to work. It finds the server but I'm unable to select the server. Screen just doesn't respond full stop. I end up having to close the app and start again as its unresponsive. Any ideas? It's very frustrating as don't want to have to buy a second ipad for our second teacher account but the phones won't work.

It should work with an iPhone. This is the first problem like this I've heard of. Presumably you've got WiFi correctly set up as it finds the server. Is it the Lite version on the iPhones? And what iOS are the phones running?

One thought that might get round whatever the problem is: Try switching off all data on your phone (just switch on aeroplane mode). See if this stops the server screen freezing so you can manually add the server. Any result of this (positive or negative) might help me figure out what's happening too. Obviously then switch your data back on...

Hi Marcus,

As is normal with these things it managed to sync not long after i wrote this. Still cant get it to work on two of the phone, but has on one. The phones were all running the latest ios as far as i know.

One other point while im here - ive just noted that in the pc version when in the register screen it used to give the option to show a whole term, to switch betwene terms. This seems to have disappeared on mine now and i dont get that? it just shows 3 weeks and i can scroll forward or backwards? Is this standard now, the viewing a term was very very helpful for printing attendence registers at the end of the term. Without that feature its a  bit of a nightmare.

Hi Mel,

In reverse order:

On your web version, go to the 'Home' page then 'Edit preferences' (top Option on Home screen). Untick the 'mini screen' option and click the 'save preferences' button.

With regard the freezing iPhones I'm wondering if it's the new iOS? The last time things suddenly stopped working was the introduction of iOS6... Are the phones new hardware too? I shall investigate more at this end... I don't suppose switching aeroplane mode on made any difference to the 'freezing'?

Reading your first post agin, can you confirm it's the add server (auto discovery) screen in synchronisation setup that freezes?
