Forum thread: Cant change timetable!

Hi Marcus,

Hope all is well. Mark entered my timetable during the summer and I am trying to change one of the rooms but there is no 'Edit Timetable' hyperlink at the bottom of the Timetable page?

Regards,

Sam

Hello Sam,

I suspect Mark has restricted this in the administrator 'Data control and locks' screen.  Perhaps check with him.

Marcus

I have released the data lock for Sam to edit the room. However, I have the 'Deleting a Student from a class' data lock turned on, however collogues can still remove students from their classes via 'Class details' at the top of the registration entry screen?

Mark,

Sorry, the interface isn't as clear as it perhaps ought to be here. The Deleting (and adding) students to a class locks only affect classes that have been imported via ODBC.  The intention was to lock data that should be updated in a different database and then gets imported (updated) via ODBC. It wasn't intended to stop staff 'shooting themselves in the foot', but to encourage data in this situation to be updated via a proper route (hence the opportunity to provide an alternative URL), and to prevent the change being overwritten on the next update via ODBC from the master database.

If there is a situation that I haven't envisaged that makes this lock useful on classes that won't otherwise be automatically updated it would be good to hear the case so I can consider best how to implement any change.

Also, if you are using the ODBC features and the lock isn't working I'd like to hear, as this would be a surprise to me.

Yours,

Marcus
