Forum thread: Add New User Accounts not working

What I did:   Tried to add new teacher details
Error Message: 'Failed to create sub-directory'

The resulting problem is:
No new teacher accounts are being generated, so I can't create new class, timetable or registers for any of the year groups.

Further details:

I'm logged on as the administrator and have had to delete teacher accounts because of staff movement. I'm now trying to add new teacher accounts via the 'add teacher account' drop-down menu. When I add new teacher details and my admin username and password, I get the following message: "ERROR: failed to create sub-directory'. I am trying to add myself as a Power teacher and I've also tried adding colleagues as 'normal' teachers - all to no avail.

Thank you for your posts.

I'm guessing you have tried adding users with different names to those you deleted (in case there was some issue with the deletion process not completing).

Assuming you have tried this, in short I suggest running the install program again (it only updates - it doesn't duplicate, and it keeps your existing data)

The reason for this is that I wonder if the underlying permissions for the file-system area used by STEARsoft on the PC have somehow changed...  If this is the case, running the install program again will probably fix it (as this sets necessary file permissions on the PC). You could install the same version as you did before or the most recent (as an upgrade).
