Hi Marcus, hope all is well. I would like to be able to make it possible for when teachers are saving the register, and there are pupils absent, a pop up box (like when a register hasn't been saved and trying to leave the page) will appear with the list of names of students that are absent and the teachers will need to confirm this by pressing OK or something? I have had a handful amount of teachers saving registers with the incorrect data. Could this made possible as parents are being rang about incorrect absences? Mark. |

Hi Mark, Thanks for your post. Although I'll make a note of this, I'm not sure it's something that will be implemented in the foreseeable future, if at all. Such pop-ups in software systems eventually don't get read and just annoy users. Have you got to the bottom of how these errors are occurring? They are usually the result of some student action (arriving late and creeping in to avoid trouble, not responding to their name, sitting in the wrong place, being under a table picking something up, gone on an errand the teacher is unaware of or has forgotten etc.) which misinforms a teacher. To help guard against these, checking a head-count against the total shown in STEARsoft is good practice. Also, the messages indicating inconsistent attendance will show if a student has suddenly appeared in their first class. I believe our office checks this before phoning home. Maybe those two training processes might help arrest these problems. If the problem is some kind of data entry error where the teacher thought they marked a student present, but it got marked as absent then it would be good to have more details to see if this can be addressed. Hi Marucs, is it possible if you could include a box, maybe next to the colour indicator on the register page, of how many students are present - for eg. 21/23? This would make the headcount easier to do. |

Thank you Mark, I trust you are aware that the iPhone/iPad version has a 'present' counter at the bottom of each column? I know the web version doesn't have this at the moment. It's already on a list, but quite low down in priority. Yours, Marcus |

Yes - I was talking to our head of Drama yesterday about the app as I obviously don't use it as I am outside the classroom - it looks good! Thanks for your quick responses, Mark |
