Component: (stearsoft.co.ukSTEARsoft web interfacePalm-device) STEARsoft version: Support request: Hi Marcus,
TX is going beautifully. My issue is with a flashing message I've not seen before. Each time I access a new page on the PC component, the word "Unregistered" fills the screen. Can you tell me how to remove it?
Thanks, Brendan Jones |

Dear Brendan,
I suspect this is what you need to do:
1) Log in to the administrator area (of STEARsoft on your PC). 2) Change your customer ID and password to the one you orginially had for your account for which you have a full license (if it's not already that) 3) Click the "Activate full license" button.
That will activate your license, and hopefully your windows installation will then be recognised as being licensed and the message will go away.
If not, the Administrator area will tell you what the problem is - and if it's not self-explanatory, report back here.
Regards,
Marcus. |

Hi Marcus, Thanks for the help. It worked first time, as usual!
Another question, though.
My PC that Stearsoft currently runs from has been a little temperamental, and I may have to move the program to another PC. Is this covered in the tutorials, or do I need to know something special?
Thanks again, Brendan Jones |

This is fine to do:
First of all, install STEARsoft on your new PC.
To transfer your data: 1) stop the STEARsoft servers on both computers (Start button-All Programs-STEARsoft-STEAR Administrator) 2) copy all of the 'data' directory from your old computer to your new one 3) restart the STEARsoft servers. 4) on your new computer log in to the administrator web pages 5) press the 'Activate full license' button
Your data directory is as detailed in the User Guide under 'Data and Backups'.
Note that your license is only valid for one computer at a time and that the activation process will only allow you to change computer twice.
Note that the administrator password is not copied across (it will default back to admin, admin if you don't change it), but your user account username and password does get copied across in this process.
Hope that is enough to get you transferred successfully.

Marcus,
I've got the flashing "unlicensed" message returning. The license that I'm using hasn't expired, but thte license that I don't use has expired. Could this be confusing STEARsoft?

Dear Brendan,
Sorry for this. I believe a fault with the license activation process didn't recognise your special unexpired license. This should now be fixed. Within the STEARsoft program, log in to the administrator area and press the 'Activate full license' button. You should then be back working again. Of course let me know if this doesn't work and there are still problems.
