Dear Chris,
We intend to add such a feature in the not too distant future to enable this to be done more easily.
However, in the mean time one of the following two methods may help.
Larger schools will usually have student, class and teacher data already in a database system. By using the ODBC (Open Database Connectivity) features in STEARsoft if such a database conforms to these standards, you should be able to import all the information straight into STEARsoft, with all teachers getting their correct class and student data in one press of a button once configured. If timetables are held, you can even import all timetables too. This is certainly the way the largest known deployment of STEARsoft works with 80+ teachers and well over 1000 students. The ODBC standard is quite wide spread and is certainly supported well by Microsoft products.
For smaller deployments where things are done a little more by hand, the easiest way to copy a class at the moment is to: 1) Go to an attendance sheet for a class you want to copy. 2) Click the 'Class details' tab 3) Near the top on the right is a link to a table of 'full pupil data'. Click on this link. 4) Scroll to the bottom of the pupil data page to the box titled 'Information ready to copy and paste' 5) Right-click in this box of data, and choose 'select all'. Then right click and choose 'copy'. 6) Go to the class you want to copy the student list to, and open the 'Class details' tab for this class. 7) Near the bottom of the 'Class details' screen, click the 'Add new students to this class' link. 8) In the box for importing data, right-click and choose 'paste'. 9) Follow the usual proceedure for completing the add students process.
This might be the way you are already doing it of course... Copying from this location does at least keep the data ordered, so should result in a straight-forward import stage.
I hope this might help in some way.
Yours,
Marcus. |
