Dear Marcus Butler I am a visiting music teacher working in a number of schools and have been looking for a good solution to record my pupils attendance. The iPhone App works really well and covers most of what I require. Occasionally schools need to check my pupils attendance, is there an easy way for them to look this up? I assume to have this function I would need to sign up for the cloud server Is there a way they can do this online without using the App or is access only available by the app? Many thanks Jamie |

Thanks for getting in touch. I have good news, and not so good news. I'll try and just list some facts, so you can decide for yourself: 1) You don't need the App to access the Cloud Server. It has its own web-based access. So schools could just access your attendance data with a web browser. 2) More than that, the web-based Cloud System adds other features, like reporting and multiple-staff features, to share, combine or analyse attendance data. 3) With the Cloud system, for the one Cloud Server you can set up multiple accounts (all within the single cost - think multiple teachers at a school). You could therefore set up accounts for the schools you teach at. They could then use such an account to log into the system and view your attendance sheets. You can set up permissions so that they can only view (not change) your data. There is also a summary page that can list which students are absent for the day (this may or may not be useful). It's intended purpose is as an emergency evacuation list. 4) Not so good: If you have multiple schools, each school could see all your data. In other words, School A could see the attendance of your students in School B. This might present a Data-Protection issue. You might be able to get around this by getting agreement from the schools concerned. If there's only 1 main school that would want access then there is no problem, even if you teach elsewhere, as you can restrict what they see (you make them a guest account, and choose which registers a guest account can view). 5) You could just try it out. Whilst there is a setup charge, it's not much compared to the cost of your time figuring things out. If it's not for you, cancel the subscription within 2 months to avoid further monthly payments.
I hope that gives some helpful information to help you make an informed decision. Do just ask again if you have further questions. |
