Forum thread: Edit all student details

Hi Marcus. I have an Excel spreadsheet with all the students date of births on, but I don't want to go through each student individually on STEARsoft to add them. Is there a way to import that spreadsheet into STEARsoft (I have the Student ID, surname and first name on the speadsheet)? Regards, Mark.

Dear Mark,

Use the web interface to add all these students as if they are new students. You can do this en-mass using copy and paste. STEARsoft should then match these students and update the details rather than duplicating them. This will be a clear step before you finish the add student wizard.

Yours,

Marcus

Marcus, I tried this this evening but have made a right mess of it, meaning that there are now 2 of each student on the central student list... help! Mark

Hi Mark,

Panick not...

I trust you have a backup of the data directory.  The backup file you need to restore is
db-adminpupil.csv
found in the STEARsoft/Reg/Data directory.
To restore this file:
1) stop the server
2) take a copy of the current file in case you make things worse.
3) restore the file from your backup
4) start the server

You should then be back to where you were to do the merge...

Yours,

Marcus

Phew... back to normal :)

Also, one of the app users have said that when looking at her timetable, two yellow highlights appear, unlike one in the web interface?

Glad that did the trick.

And thanks for reporting the double highlight...

Marcus
