Hi - how do we sort our register into alphabetical order?

Thanks for your post Sue,

It should sort automatically by student family name. If this is not happening, which screen on which device are you looking?

Marcus

Both on the desk top and on the iPad they are not listed in order?

Sounds odd. Are you able to post some example names in the order they're appearing. Are there any special characters or anything I wonder?

Is there an email address we can send a screen shot to?

Dear Sue,

I've sent a separate email so you can send me a screenshot. Please check your junk folder if it hasn't yet appeared.

Thank you for your patience.

Yours,

Marcus

Thanks for the email with screen shot.

My suspicion is that there are some extra 'spaces' mucking things up.  To verify and correct this:

In the web version, in the register page, click on the top name (Harland).  This brings up the screen to edit student details.  See if there's a space character at the start of Harland.  Assuming there is, just delete it (the click 'save changes'). This should then put this student further down the list in the correct position.

If you use the central student list, then maybe it's best to check and update this there instead (All School Data --- Settings --- Central student list).  Same idea (click the top name and look for a space at the beginning of their family name).

Now it might not be this - if not, please get back to me and we can think again.

But if it is, the issue becomes how that happened and how can STEARsoft be improved to stop it happening...  So if you know how the names were entered into the system it would be good to hear.

There's also the issue of how to resolve the problem for the data you have.  If it's just a handful of students (tens), then it will probably be quickest to just individually delete the spaces - the ones affected will be at the top of the list, so just keep working on the top student until resolved.  If it's more than that, let me know and I'll try and figure a quick way to resolve the problem en-mass.

Thanks again.

Yours,

Marcus
