Component:STEARsoft web interface
Hi Marcus, Sorry for another suggestion but would it be possible to instead of the image of a red forward slash and a black circle could there be just a text box and enter the code and it could automaticly move ?
Thanks, Chris |

Dear Chris, Thank you for your further interest in STEARsoft. You have a lot of good ideas. What you describe sounds similar to the keyboard shortcuts available when you right-click on an attendance sheet. I guess you're talking about something on the attendance sheet itself. One reason we have kept this feature in the popup screen is to keep the main screen simple and operational with as few clicks as possible. Another big reason is one of consistency: STEARsoft is designed from the outset to work with handheld and keyboard-free devices, so the primary functionality tries as much as possible to be the same whether you're on a PC, a Palm or an iPhone.
If you've not tried using the keyboard with the popup screen, give it a go. You'll hopefully find it does all you need. Read the manual for all the shortcuts available here.
Yours,
Marcus |

Emma,
Click on the attendance sheet directly. The first click will put a diagonal red line; this means present. Click a second time and it cycles to a black circle; this means absent. Click a third time to get a Late symbol (small clock in the top left). Subsequent clicks indicate leaving the class early (clock in top right), or cancelled lesson (horizontal dash). If you click and drag on an entry you get an extended entry screen where you can use the keyboard. The Help gives more detailed explanations and the online tutorials can give you a walk-through. Finally, by clicking in the top box (in the default row) you can change the attendance state of all unmarked students at once.
Yours,
Marcus. |

Hello,
Just a follow on to this suggestion with a few screenshots this time.
This could be a better view of the timetable: http://prgentertainments.co.uk/intranet/staff/Capture.png
Attendance Sheets looking like this: http://prgentertainments.co.uk/intranet/staff/capture2.png
And when you enter codes E.G: N, L etc they will automaticly capitalise n - N and then move down to the next student. |

Thank you again for these Chris.
I'm not sure we'll go down that road as it goes a bit against the straightforward, graphical ethos of STEARsoft. It also relies more on the keyboard which makes using tablet devices less attractive. You could probably get such a look using a spreadsheet or database. Did you mock this up in such a way?
Yours,
Marcus. |
